Profile:
This Alternative-Country-Rock-Groove band from the southern part of Virginia mixes British, Southern, and Indie sounds with Pop songwriting. The groups
influence grows from their preppy Blues genre which they describe as a gumbo of great melody, groove, and confidence! Their preppy Polo style attire on stage
do attract attention and many questions, but the group answers back with commanding riffs, rump-shacking grooves, soul leads, and a sophisticated-sultry voice. But when revved-up, comes a raspy powered engine goddess sent voice.
Their music is a mix of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, and a caffeine buzz Nina Simone¦ can you imagine? To top it off, Luisa's (singer) stage presence, echos the likes of Tina Turner and Mick Jagger, makes them a treat and delight to watch. She's not shy on stage though she is off stage! Blackbird Pond's standing ovation performance in New York City shows the bands talent, dedication and
passion for music.
Blackbird Pond formed when they decided that they needed extra spice in their everyday lives. They needed something more than the 9-5 workday and Sam (drums) was just plain tired of making those donuts early in the morning everyday! So, with a trip to a Goodwill shop for their instruments, they decided to form a band. First, just to jam like crazy fools and now… they jam like crazy fools with confidence! A
few years later and after many road trip gigs with barely enough money for gas and lodging, they finally created a buzz that is well earned!
Blackbird Pond toured up and down the east coast, played in NYC, UCLA, and Texas. No place was unreachable. They even performed in Boone, NC during a winter storm driving to the venue on an icy narrow road with a top speed of 5 miles per hour through a thick fog along side a mountain cliff. Looking down was unbearable.
Blackbird Pond's songs are crossing over different genres and demographics. For instance, their soulful/bluesy song "Brown Bag" struck a nerve with local fans who voted the song to be "ALL THAT" during the segment "DIS or ALL THAT" on a local top 40 radio station. "Roll Daddy", the band's 2nd crossed-over song was played on a popular hip-hop station; with all the attention brewing, a DJ from California called the band to play their songs on the 4th largest radio station in Los Angeles.
Blackbird Pond recently completed the third phase of their album entitled www.blackbirdpond.com vol. 3 and music video, "Sexy Conversation". The band plans to continue their tour and take on new projects.
